The two tie rules
The second picker in the page actions:
- Ties: 1, 1, 3 — two learners share first and the next learner is third. The tied places are skipped.
- Ties: 1, 1, 2 — two learners share first and the next learner is second. The ranks run on.
Tied learners are listed once under the shared rank, with 2 tied under the number. Pick the rule your school uses before you save a copy; it is recorded with the list.
Why two equal numbers are not always tied
The list shows two decimals. Ranks are decided on four. Two learners both showing 91.25 can be 91.2450 and 91.2500 — a real difference, so a real gap in rank rather than a tie.
This is also why a ranking and an award can disagree. Awards read the whole-number average that prints on the card; the ranking orders by the exact one.
Not on this list
The panel on the right names every learner who could not be ranked, and why:
- 3 of 8 learning areas have no grade yet — on a term's average.
- 2 of 8 learning areas are not final yet — on the general average.
- the year-end is not computed yet — every area is final, so open Grades and press Recalculate year-end.
A learner is ranked only when every learning area has a grade on the basis you chose. One blank keeps them off the list entirely, so a rank is never built on a partial set of numbers.
Transferred-out and dropped learners are never ranked.
Right after encoding
Changing a score marks that term grade for recomputation, and a grade waiting on one is left out of the ranking. The learner reappears once the recompute lands, so reload after a moment before taking the list as final.
