When you need this
A subject changes teacher part-way through the year, you are leaving the school, or an adviser set a subject up and now wants its real teacher on it.
How
- Open the subject and go to Teachers.
- Type their Email, choose Owner (hand over) under As, and press Send invitation.
- When they accept, the gradebook is theirs: activities, scores, subject settings, the subject code, and the right to invite others.
An adviser does the same thing from the class's Subjects page — the actions menu at the end of the row, then Invite a teacher, sends exactly this handover invitation for that subject.
What you keep
If you advise the class, you keep sight of the subject through it: the class record, the computed grades, the report cards. You will not be able to type a score in it.
If you do not advise the class, you lose access the moment they accept. Ask the new owner to invite you back as a co-teacher if you still need to encode.
Before you hand over
If the term is finished and the numbers should hold still, press Lock the gradebook on Subject settings first. The new owner can unlock it whenever they need to.
What if
- You sent it to the wrong address. While the invitation is still pending, press Withdraw on its row on the Teachers page. Once it has been accepted, only the new owner can invite you back.
- They already co-teach the subject. Accepting the owner invitation promotes them, and the previous owner's place is removed.
- They cannot accept. The link works once and lasts 14 days. Send a new one from the same form.
- You only wanted to share it. That is a Co-teacher invitation, or the subject code. Handing over is not something you can undo from your side.
- You want the subject gone entirely. Subject settings → Delete gradebook, which only the owner can do. Its activities and scores go with it; learners on the adviser's roster are untouched.
