How learners are matched
In this order: LRN exact, then email exact, then the name normalised — capitalisation, punctuation and middle initials ignored. Whatever is left is compared for close spelling, and a pair at least 45% alike is offered for review rather than matched outright.
The three columns
Matched — same LRN, email or name. Each row shows the adviser's learner, yours, and which of the three matched them. Nothing to do.
Needs review — close spellings, with how similar they are. Press Same learner to merge the pair, or Different to keep them apart.
Unmatched — learners only in your gradebook, and learners only on the class. For each of yours, press Add to class roster so they join the section, or Ignore so they leave your gradebook with their scores hidden. Learners only on the class join your subject with no scores yet.
Above the columns is the count of activities and scores that stay exactly as they are.
Steps
- Open the request in the gradebook: sidebar → Link a class.
- Work down Needs review and press a button on every row. A row you leave alone counts as Different, and a learner counted as different is then added to the class roster as a new learner. That is how one child ends up on the section twice.
- Work down Unmatched and choose for each of yours.
- Press Link the gradebook and confirm.
What if
- It says "Waiting for the other party to review." You sent the request, so the other side decides. Ask them to open it.
- You are not sure two names are the same child. Check the LRN on the adviser's roster before you decide. Do not guess: a wrong Same learner merges two children's scores, and a wrong Different puts one child on the roster twice.
- A learner of yours has left the section. Press Ignore. Their scores are hidden with them, and a revert brings them back.
