Joining a class with a code

Type the seven characters an adviser or a colleague gave you and get a gradebook with the roster already typed.

  • Say whether it helped at the bottom of the article. That is the only way we learn it is wrong.
  • Anything in a green box is what the DepEd order says; anything in amber is where teachers get caught.

Which code do you have

  • A class code comes from the adviser of a section. It adds your subject to their class, with the learner list already there.
  • A subject code comes from a teacher who already keeps that gradebook. It makes you a co-teacher who can encode in it.

Both are seven characters, upper case. A code never contains a zero or a one, and the field ignores anything you type that is not a letter or a digit from 2 to 9.

Steps

  1. Open Join with a code from the sidebar, or from the button on My subjects.
  2. Type the code and press Look up the code.
  3. For a class code, the card names the adviser, the section, the learner count and the school year. Answer Which subject do you teach here? and press Join this class.
  4. For a subject code, the card names the owner and the learner count. Press Join as co-teacher.

Either way you land straight on the class record with the roster ready.

What you own after joining

The gradebook: its activities, its scores, and the term grades they compute. The adviser owns the learner list and sees your computed grades on the report card. The component weights come from the DepEd order for the learning area.

What if

  • "No class or subject has that code." Check the characters with whoever shared it. A code is seven characters and never contains a zero or a one.
  • The subject already has a teacher. The message names them. Ask them for their subject code so you join as a co-teacher, or ask the adviser to reassign the subject.
  • "That class is archived." Nothing new can be added to it. Ask the adviser to roll it over into this school year.
  • "Your account is at its gradebook limit." An unverified account holds two gradebooks, a verified one holds twelve. Verify your address in Settings.
  • You followed an invitation link. It opens this page and accepts by itself. If you were signed out, sign in or create an account first and you come straight back to it. If it says the invitation is no longer open, it was used, withdrawn, or is more than 14 days old — ask for a new one, or use the class code.
