Two addresses, one card
Each learner can hold a Learner's email and a Guardian's email. When a term is released, the card goes to the learner's own address if there is one, and to the guardian's address if there is not.
With no address at all, the learner joins the print batch — one PDF, one card per page. That is a deliberate path, not a fallback. A large share of learners will never have an address on file, and their cards are no different.
Adding an address
- Learners → Edit on the row, then Edit details.
- Fill in Learner's email, Guardian's email, or both.
- Press Save learner.
A paste can carry them too. A column with an @ in it is read as an email automatically.
The note at the top of the list
When anyone on the roster has no address, the Learners page says so: 12 learners have no email — their report cards will be printed. Adding an email is encouraged, never required. The same count appears as roster health on the class overview, with Add emails beside it.
What if the address is wrong
- On a paste, an entry that is not a valid address is dropped with the warning That does not look like an email address; the card will be printed instead. The learner is still added — only the address is left off.
- In the edit panel, saving a malformed address fails with That does not look like an email address. Leave it blank and the card will be printed.
- After a release, a bounced address is fixed on the Release screen, not here, so the card can be resent without re-releasing the term.
One limit to know
Emailing report cards needs a verified account. Building the roster, encoding, computing and previewing do not. If yours is not verified yet, every address you record now still works the moment it is.
